Some industries, such as Cryogenics, Nuclear, Vacuum Moulding or Marine, require extremely complex components, which can generally only be machined using CAD/CAM (the conversion of a 3D computer-generated model into a dynamic program for a CNC mill or lathe to follow).  At Ashbrook Engineering, our design engineers have access to a comprehensive and state of the art suite of Solidworks / SolidCAM software, which enables us to model, program and automate the creation of some highly complex components. We have manufactured many such components in many materials for many clients, using surface contouring, with machining cycle times in some instances of more than thirty hours. This has included, to name but a couple, the production of components as diverse as racing dingy rudder and centreboard moulds to amplifier chambers for nuclear fusion.
We offer an extensive CAD/CAM engineering service which can encompass:
Creation of 3D CAD models from your design drawings.
Utilising your own CAD files (.iges or .stp) to create the CAM machining program
Design verification and analysis.
As this type of component can be very costly to redesign/replace, we are also able to offer design verification services, such as thermal and stress analysis, to provide you with the highest levels of confidence.
